![]() Dr. Jennifer James
Dr. Jennifer James is an Urban Cultural Anthropologist who was a professor at the University of Washington Medical School prior to developing her public lectures and corporate seminars, which she presents worldwide. She is a specialist in the cultural elements of technological change and marketing intelligence. Her unique background (history, psychology and anthropology) has made her one of the most sought after women speakers in the world. She works extensively with boards and high-level executive groups on strategic planning and international problem solving. Dr. James is a researcher, writer and commentator. She has published seven books, numerous academic articles and wrote a newspaper column for the Seattle Times for 18 years. Her most recent book is Thinking In The Future Tense and she is currently completing a new book, Cultural Intelligence.
She is the founder of the Committee for Children, a nonprofit organization that for 25 years has developed curriculums for the protection of children and the development of alternatives to violence. These curriculums are taught in every state and in 38 other countries.
![]() Dr. Yong Zhao
Dr. Yong Zhao is a University Distinguished Professor at Michigan State University, where he also serves as the founding Director of the Center for Teaching and Technology and the US-China Center for Research on Educational Excellence. In addition, he is an elected fellow of the International Academy for Education. Zhao received his Ph.D. in Education from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1996. His research interests include globalization and education, digital citizenship, diffusion of innovation, teacher adoption of technology, computer-assisted language learning, and international and comparative education. Zhao has published extensively in these areas. Zhao has been invited to present to education policy makers and practitioners in many countries including Australia, Chile, China, England, Ireland, Singapore, Sweden, Thailand, The Netherlands, the United States, and Vietnam. He joins us at the 2009 AdvancED Conference to inspire us and enrich our conference dedicated to the future of learning and to ensuring student preparedness for tomorrow's world.
