Position Summary

The Senior Development Specialist is a key position in the Research Division.  The primary role of the Senior Development Specialist is to identify and create innovative resources, products, and processes that promote, support and improve education in a variety of teaching, learning and organizational settings.  A successful Senior Development Specialist utilizes current knowledge and expertise in education and other fields to support, enhance and continuously improve teaching, learning and organizational effectiveness of education providers. 

 

Accountabilities

  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to assess and scan the past, present and future trends within the education industry 
  • As appropriate, lead the conceptualization, design, development, evaluation and management  of projects/products
  • Ideate and present new concepts for possible product development
  • Create, develop and design innovative solutions, tools and resources that support and enhance the effectiveness of education providers to help every learner and improve educational organizations
  • Assist with conceptualization and development of resources, products and processes for educational improvement and excellence
  • Collaborate with the team(s) responsible for implementation to conduct pilot studies to determine viability and effectiveness of newly developed resources, solutions, tools, products, and processes
  • Apply practitioner’s knowledge and experiences to inform and ensure quality product development
  • Serve as content review expert for all resources, products and processes
  • Collaborate and engage with internal and external stakeholders to develop resources, products, and processes
  • Design and conduct professional training in various formats that supports new products
  • Establish and manage product development tasks, timelines, and communications
  • Provide regular project status updates to appropriate levels of management and/or leadership
  • Serve in a leadership capacity on AdvancED Engagement Reviews
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Annual Travel Requirements

  • Approximately 25% travel annually with possible weekend travel, depending on the nature of the project or assignment                                            

 

Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum of three successful years of educational leadership experience
  • Minimum of five successful classroom teaching years, preferably in a K-12 setting
  • Demonstrate current knowledge and understanding of PK-12 education, quality learning environments for all students, curriculum and instruction, program development and evaluation, and data collection, analysis, and application  
  • A proven track record of assessing learning institutions’ needs to improve the learning, growth and development of all students and the institutions’ organizational effectiveness
  • A proven track record of providing leadership in various educational settings 
  • Successful experience leading, managing and conducting tasks necessary to complete projects in a timely manner
  • Successful experience in developing school improvement products, testing the products’ effectiveness, and providing leadership from beginning to end

 

Education

  • Minimum Master’s Degree in teaching, curriculum and instruction, or educational leadership from an accredited institution of higher learning, PhD or EdD preferred; Equivalent combination of education and experience in other related fields will be considered
