Welcome A Message from the Director Welcome to the Nebraska State Office Web site of the North Central Association Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement (NCA CASI). NCA CASI has been accrediting schools in Nebraska for over 100 years and has a long history of collaboration with the University of Nebraska and the Nebraska Department of Education in the areas of school improvement and accreditation. NCA CASI is an accreditation division of AdvancED.
Nebraska NCA CASI currently accredits more than 350 schools, including early childhood, elementary, middle, secondary, college preparatory, special purpose, and unit (K-12) schools that serve over 164,000 students. Six districts in the state -- Fremont, Bellevue, Papillion-LaVista, South Sarpy, Waverly, and David City Public Schools -- are engaged in the District Accreditation process.
In 2006, Nebraska NCA CASI accredited schools became part of the largest educational community in the world when NCA CASI, the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Council on Accreditation and School Improvement (SACS CASI), and the National Study of School Evaluation (NSSE) partnered to form AdvancED. AdvancED accredits schools in 30 states and 65 countries as well as the Navajo Nation, the Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA), and Latin America representing over 23,000 public and private schools. AdvancED serves nearly 15 million students. This partnership has allowed our Nebraska schools to benefit from shared, research-based accreditation standards and the many advantages that accompany accreditation.
We invite you to call our state office or any of our AdvancED Field Consultants for additional information about Nebraska NCA CASI and AdvancED. We are here to support Nebraska schools and educators in their continuous efforts to provide the best possible learning environment and opportunities for all students.
