Kentucky State Office
Welcome
A Message from the Directors
Welcome to the Kentucky State Office Web site of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement (SACS CASI). We are located in the College of Education on the campus of the University of Kentucky in Lexington.
We are proud to be part of the AdvancED organization, which includes SACS CASI and the North Central Association Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement (NCA CASI). Learn more about AdvancED.
Our mission is to advance excellence in education in Kentucky schools by:
  • Helping schools maximize student success.
  • Building the capacity of schools and school systems to pursue excellence through the accreditation process that includes high standards, quality assurance, and continuous improvement.
  • Bringing together research and resources for student, school, and system improvement.
  • Providing a distinctive mark of quality recognized internationally that affords external recognition of accredited schools and school systems' commitment to quality.
AdvancED accredits 23,000 schools worldwide. Kentucky SACS CASI accredits nearly 700 public and non-public pre-school, elementary, middle, high and career technical schools in the state. We have been accrediting schools in this state since 1915, and in 2007 we have more SACS CASI accredited schools and accreditation candidate schools in Kentucky than ever in our history.
The Kentucky SACS CASI State Council is composed of educators around the state. The Council provides leadership and guidance to the accreditation program in Kentucky.
Along with our State Council and AdvancED Field Consultants, members of our staff can assist you with your accreditation needs. Please call our office if you would like additional information about accreditation, resources and professional development opportunities.
Thank you for visiting our Web site. We hope you find it useful and informative.
